Cannabidiol, or CBD, as it's more well-known, is everywhere. Let's face it; you can't get away from it! Whether you're interested in it or not (chances are you are interested, since you're here), there's a growing body of research and evidence as to why you should add it to your life. Want to know more? Then you have come to the right place! In this article, we will be keeping things simple and putting the spotlight on just one method of CBD consumption – mouth spray! Let's face it, there are so many options open to you out there when it comes to purchasing CBD oil, and sometimes we all value and crave simplicity. The good news is that what you see is what you get when it comes to CBD mouth spray. So, sit back and let us talk to you about the top ten main reasons why you should be using CBD oil in the form of a mouth spray.

What is CBD oil?

This section is for you CBD newbies out there, as we bet you're wondering 'what is CBD oil'? Well, you can find it in hemp and cannabis plants, where it's also kept company by over 100 other cannabinoids. CBD is fast-becoming one of the most popular natural ingredients in our daily lives, as it goes well with so many products. There's CBD-infused bath bombs, shampoos, protein bars, gummies, and you can even vape it now!

One of the other primary cannabinoids in the cannabis Sativa plant is tetrahydrocannabinol, better known as THC. This is the main psychotropic compound of the plant, and it can change your state of mind or mood if you consume it. On the other hand, CBD is regarded as a non-psychotropic cannabinoid – and that's one of the main reasons it's graced a ton of products with its presence! To make CBD oil, you first need to extract it from the plant. For humans to be able to consume it comfortably, CBD oil also needs to be diluted with a carrier oil. The most popular carrier oils include avocado, hemp seed, and coconut MCT oil.

VAAY CBD Mouth Spray

So, what's CBD-infused mouth spray? Let's face it; you've probably already guessed that the clue is in the name – CBD oil in spray form! Here at VAAY, we believe that your CBD experience should be as hassle-free and convenient as possible, and that's why we created our CBD Mouth Spray. Our spray is derived from full-spectrum hemp extract, with MCT oil from coconut used as our carrier oil. This means that our spray contains all of the naturally-occurring compounds from the hemp plant (terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids) to help promote a sense of well-being. You see, when all of the naturally occurring compounds are allowed to work together, they can help to create a synergistic effect. This is referred to as the entourage effect. Don't panic; this product is free of THC.

So, how do you use CBD mouth spray? Simply pump two strokes into your mouth, or more specifically, sublingually. This fancy Latin word is just another way of saying 'under the tongue.' It's a good idea to hold the CBD underneath your tongue (for approximately 20 seconds) as this lends itself to faster absorption into the bloodstream. And, after all, we all want to feel the potential benefits of CBD as quickly as possible, right? If you want to discover what these possible benefits are, then we will keep you in suspense no longer; just keep reading!

To freshen your breath

We all want fresh, sweet-smelling breath, right? Well, sometimes a quick mint just doesn't cut it, and you want a faster solution to the problem – meet our CBD-infused mouth spray! As we already know, just a few sprays, and you're good to go! We have put thought behind the selection of our carrier oil, as it comes with many natural benefits, one of them potentially being to freshen the breath. Although the results are debated (so more conclusive research would be good), there's a technique referred to as 'oil pulling'. It sounds like something that you may want to avoid, but it's simply using coconut oil as a mouthwash. One study in favour of oil pulling was published back in 2008. It examined the effects of oil pulling (with sesame oil) on plaque and oral health. The study concluded that oil pulling may effectively maintain and even improve oral health, like bad breath and reducing plaque. Coconut oil may also boast antimicrobial effects, and this could help contribute to keeping your mouth healthy and free of bacteria. There's lauric acid in coconut oil, and this contributes to its fatty acid profile. Once your body digests this, it creates something called monolaurin. They can both then help to fight fungi and bacteria. So, the next time you've downed your morning coffee, or scoffed a couple of garlic bread slices, discard the mints and reach for the all-natural CBD mouth spray instead! Or, if you don't have time to get to the mouthwash before some intimate time with your partner, then this will definitely come in handy. What's more, CBD and sex may make a fantastic combination, but that's a story for another time.

As a potential anti-inflammatory

CBD is regarded as possessing potential anti-inflammatory properties, and this may be useful in reducing symptoms of pain (more on this later). One animal study was published in 2016, and researchers examined the effects of applying topical CBD to rats with arthritis. They noted that the CBD was able to help relieve their pain by reducing the inflammation and swelling in their bones and joints. What's more, this was achieved without the presence of any negative side effects. There have also been studies conducted on humans to establish the purported anti-inflammatory effects of CBD. One review published in 2017 reported that (due to CBD's possible anti-inflammatory effects) it may be able to help the symptoms of various conditions. For example, signs of some bowel diseases, general pain, multiple sclerosis (MS), cardiovascular diseases, and symptoms of other inflammatory conditions. Another review highlighted the importance of cannabinoids and their potential as novel anti-inflammatory supplements. The authors conclude that CBD has the potential to be used as a specific targeting supplement of CB2 receptors for possibly mediating immunosuppressive effects without side effects.

CBD and Pain

CBD oil for pain is a promising (and constantly growing) area of research. Some people like the idea of something that comes from nature being able to relieve their pain. So, let's highlight some of the key studies from this area of CBD research. One review published in 2018 examined the current research from 1975 up until March 2018, into the way that CBD may affect chronic pain. Due to its potential anti-inflammatory effects, CBD can help your cells to respond to pain and potentially help you to manage it. Chronic pain refers to a specific type of pain. While it can cover a range of conditions (fibromyalgia, back pain, arthritis-related pain, etc), it refers to the pain being constant, despite medical intervention. This could be surgery or medication. The review reported that CBD may potentially be effective in overall pain management without producing any adverse side effects. A further review in 2020 concurred with this review in its own examination of the evidence for the use of CBD in chronic pain. Further research is still needed to help determine the efficacy and standard dosages of CBD.

Catching Zzz's

Getting that all-important eight hours sleep should be something that we all take seriously. It may sound strange that you need to take your sleep seriously, but it's vital for your overall well-being, both physically and psychologically. Consider sleep as the time that your body is on charge, and it will help you to be able to take on whatever the day brings when you wake up. Some of the most commonly searched for terms on the internet (pertaining to CBD) are 'CBD oil for sleep' and 'when to take CBD oil for sleep'. You see, people are curious as to how CBD could improve their sleep health. And, let's face it, sometimes we all need some sleeping tips, especially if we're trying out CBD for sleep for the very first time!

Luckily, there's a ton of research into the purported benefits that CBD may have on your sleep schedule. One small (but essential) study published in 2014 examined the way that CBD affected four people with Parkinson's disease who were dealing with something called REM sleep behaviour disorder (RBD). This disorder is firmly associated with inadequate sleep, plenty of tossing and turning, as well as acting out dreams/nightmares. The study concluded that CBD may have been able to reduce the symptoms of the disease promptly and substantially in all four patients without side effects. This is encouraging for the potential use of CBD for improved sleep. Of course, CBD alone won't solve your sleep issues. To give yourself a fighting chance of a good night's sleep, then you should try and live the healthiest life you can. This includes diet and exercise, but also making sure that you integrate acts of self-care into your daily routine, as you need to take care of your psychological well-being as well.

Calm thoughts

We've all been there – our thoughts are racing (and maybe our hearts too), as intense feelings of stress and worry threaten to overwhelm us. Worry and stress can occur for so many reasons that it would be impossible to list them all here.

Some common life anxieties are financial problems, work stress, fallout between you and your loved ones, and so on. Pressures such as these have led people to scour the internet for more information about CBD oil for anxiety, asking questions like 'how much CBD oil for anxiety' and 'how to use CBD oil for anxiety'. One key piece of research was published in 2019, as it examined how CBD may influence people struggling with anxiety or poor sleep. Seventy-two test subjects took part, with 47 of them living with anxiety and 25 with poor sleep. The study took place over one month, and the subjects were given 25mg of CBD in capsule form every day. The results were encouraging, as, after the study, 79.2% said they experienced less anxiety, and 66.7% reported being able to sleep better. Again, CBD alone won't be able to calm your mind, as it's not a magic potion! You should also consider incorporating some stress-busting exercises into your life. This could include going for a walk and breathing in some fresh air, calling a loved one, or spending time with a beloved pet. Or it could be something that you've never tried before, like yoga or meditation. The options are endless – as long as it makes you feel calm, do it!

Gum Disease

CBD for gum disease is hardly a common search for people to make into the internet. However, it does appear to be a growing area of interest for researchers. Gum disease is such a common issue that pretty much all adults in the UK are dealing with it to some degree. It's not a pleasant thing to think about, is it? If it's not severe, then you can think of it as an invisible disease that can worsen over time and become a severe health issue. So, how is gum disease caused? Well, it's all about (you guessed it) plaque that has built up on your teeth. This plaque can contain damaging bacteria, and these bacteria can spread into your gums. Unfortunately, just brushing your teeth more thoroughly and using mouthwash will not reverse the problem. And neither will flossing! This leaves you with inflamed, angry gums that can bleed after and during brushing.

One very recent study published in 2020 directly examined the potential effects of CBD on dental plaque. This plaque was collected from humans and then stored and locked into petri dishes. The authors drew some interesting and promising conclusions, as they reported that cannabinoids hold the potential to be an effective antibacterial supplement used to target plaque bacteria. While this may occur way in the future, this is an exciting area of research into the potential of CBD for your oral health.

General Oral Health Care

Speaking of oral health, this is another intriguing area of CBD research. As we have already mentioned, a CBD mouth spray may be able to freshen your breath, possibly manage dental pain, and reduce inflammation. But it may also promote a healthier mouth overall, thanks to the research dedicated to examining CBD's antifungal and antibacterial properties. One piece of research published in 2020 highlighted the cannabis plants potential antibacterial benefits. The authors note that they believe that the plant itself has untapped potential, and that the compounds and terpenes in the plant demonstrate promising antimicrobial activity.

What's more, animal research published in 2018 has also indicated that CBD was able to help heal oral wounds in rats. CBD was administered via injection, and the study also concluded that CBD was able to reduce the associated symptoms of inflammation. While further research is required, this is promising. No wonder we're beginning to see CBD-infused toothpaste and other oral care products! Of course, when it comes to your oral health, CBD can't do all the heavy lifting. It's vital that you take good care of your pearly whites by getting into a good routine. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice per day, using mouthwash to keep your gums healthy, as well as flossing to remove bits of food from your teeth and gums that can make unwanted homes there. This can also help to prevent any infections and diseases. And, it should go without saying, but making sure that you attend (as much as you dread them) all of your dental appointments. Your dentist will check out the overall health of your mouth, as well as ensuring that you show no signs of oral cancers.

Feeling nauseated? Reach for premium CBD spray!

If you're feeling sick but still looking to get your CBD fix, then there's no better option than premium CBD mouth spray. It will be far better tolerated than any other method (particularly capsules or edibles) as these could upset or irritate your stomach more. What's more, if you can't keep anything down, then the CBD won't be absorbed into your bloodstream. Interestingly, CBD may also be useful for those undergoing experiences which may make them nauseous, such as boat or ferry rides, carsickness, etc. Animal studies have demonstrated that CBD may help to alleviate nausea due to the way it potentially interacts with serotonin receptors. However, research has suggested that the best solution for nausea may be a combination of CBD and THC. One review published in 2016 reported that the endocannabinoid system plays a vital role in the regulation of nausea. They found that the cannabinoids CBD, CBDA, and THC were effective in reducing nausea. Further research needs to take place to establish dosing and efficacy, although things look promising.

Potentially useful if you have digestive problems

If you're suffering from an unruly digestive system, then CBD-infused spray may seem much more appealing than any other method, as well as the fact that many people may be able to tolerate it far better. The absorption of CBD through your intestine may become a challenge, and therefore the oral route of your CBD will be the best option for successful absorption. For example, you could have had gastric surgery or an infection, and you may still be healing from an issue or condition. This would mean that it's pretty much impossible for the CBD to absorb into your system. This could become frustrating, so reach for the CBD mouth spray!

It's easy to use

Name an easier CBD product to use – we'll wait. Nope, you really can't, can you? It's because CBD-infused mouth spray literally takes zero effort- and that's always appealing! Let's face it, sometimes it's exciting to use the other fun methods of CBD consumption, but on other days all you want is to incorporate CBD into your life in the most hassle-free way possible. What's more, it's a discreet method that lends itself to on-the-go consumption. This is great for people who prefer to fly under the radar and don't want to draw any attention to themselves. A simple mouth spray won't draw any special attention or questions from people. Or hey, even if it does, you could enlighten them into what CBD might have to offer. You never know, you could spark their CBD journey!
